The mosque is very important in Ko Panyi where most people are Moslem. Although most Thais are Buddhists, many Thai fishermen along the coasts are Moslems. The minarets of this mosque are cleverly aligned with the approach channel to the village, a help to fishermen on their way home and visiting yachtsmen.
